- We left Half Moon Bay and drove toward the Jelly Belly Factory.
- We mapped it incorrectly, apparently, and ended up at a Jelly Belly store, about 20 minutes away from the factory.
- There was an outlet mall that we drove past—we have driven past several on this trip, and I don’t usually care that much about them (they’re the typical outlet mall stores). This time I saw 2 stores I really like & haven’t seen before—Bath & Body Works and Gymboree (outlets!!). I got to run in to both stores, and found some particularly great deals at Gymboree!
- We finally got to the Jelly Belly Factory & we were starving for lunch. We ate at their cafĂ©, which cost around the same as a meal at Disney (though it was better food!). We got 1 philly cheese steak sandwich & onion rings to share, 1 small pizza & French fries for the boys to share, 2 bottles of water, and 2 small lemonades for the boys to share--$30. Can you imagine if we didn’t share?
- Well, the factory tour was free! We got to wear some funky hats and then walked around the factory and learned how they make the famous jelly beans.
- We got some jelly beans at the store, and let the kids each pick out some of their favorite flavors. That was fun!
- It was SOOOO extremely hot that day, our car thermometer read 103. In San Diego, Kaleb had prayed for sunshine (during the 60 degree days), and his prayer was answered. On this day, Kaleb asked “can I pray that it won’t be so sunny?” and we said “sure!!” and he prayed for that. Later, randomly, Isaac said he wanted to pray for Grandpa, that he’d be safe if he did any dangerous jobs. ;)
- We drove north to Cobb Mountain. The roads were crazy, and windy with 20 mph switchbacks. I hate roads like that (these ones were super duper scary!!) and I was thankful that our next campground would not be one we were commuting to & from every day!
- We arrived at our campground around 6:30—it was a Jellystone (Yogi Bear) campground, and the boys have been excited about it the entire trip!
- We needed groceries (esp. milk!), and asked if there were any stores near by. Karry unhooked the trailer, and then we headed off to a grocery store (3 miles back down the crazy road we had come up!).
- We got food for 6-7 meals, 3 boxes of Capri Suns, a couple of days worth of baby food, some snacks, and some dessert, and spent $100—and this was an expensive grocery store. It was a little store, where a loaf of sandwich bread cost about $5 (but we’re camping in the middle of no where and needed food!). The meals (even at this expensive store) cost less than half the price of what we would spend on average @ the theme parks, and we’ve got more quantity than we’d get sharing a plate at a theme park. Crazy!!!
- We got back & fed the kids some chicken nuggets, leveled the trailer, put the kids to bed, and then watched “A Cinderella Story” (which we had picked up from Walmart a while back).
